Do or Die Chores!

The title sounds pretty grim, but really this might be a way to make chore time fun.

You need a wooden cube, words or pictures of chores that you assign your children, scrapbook paper and Modge-podge. (I found my clip art in my word processing program and online. It was free. Just google it!) I printed my clip art on photo paper, but you could also use cardstock.

I used a 2" cube (cost about $1.00 at Michaels. A 4" cube cost about $4.) so I cut my clip-art and my scrapbook paper into 2" squares. The cubes aren't precisely 2", so you may need to trim a bit.

Put a layer of modge-podge on one surface of the cube and carefully apply the picture or scrapbook paper.

Continue with 4 other sides. When you have done 5 sides, coat everything with Modge Podge and let it dry. When dry, complete the sixth side.

As you can see from the first photo, one cube was covered using colorful scrapbook paper. I printed some fun ideas to do when chores are done such as baking cookies or going for a bike ride. Because I was too lazy to get our my Xyron sticker maker with repositional adhesive, I just 'laminated' the words with clear packing tape and put double stick tape on the back. That way you can change the activities.

So.... when it is chore time. have the children roll the die to find out what chore they need to complete. When they have finished all of their chores, have them spin the other die to find something fun to do.

Thanks to my sister for this idea and her help.
