My First Chair Redo, finally.

So I mentioned my little beauty in my Land of Misfit Projects post. I felt more motivated to open my horizons for the perfect fabric for the cushion after that post. A few weeks ago, I had a 20% off my total purchase coupon at Jo Ann and there was an awesome sale going on. I scored a bunch of fabric including fabric to cover the cushion:

Recognize the green fabric from my tag blanket?

I recruited my crafty and HILLARIOUS friend, Anne (check out her blog!) to help me with this project. Why? Well she’s crafty AND she owns a staple gun. What more could you need? Here she is modeling for me:

She’ll probably hate this picture, BUT don’t worry, Anne. Keep reading.

Just for a comparison of how very ugly the fabric was and how BEAUTIFUL the new fabric is:

See?
So we got started

First we lined up the fabric where we wanted it on the front

Then we flipped the cushion over. We stapled along the sides, leaving the corners for last. This was all Anne’s wisdom

I’m a staple gun machine!

This is how we pleated the corners. I had a terrible time lining up the gun with these pleats and there are a million staples under there. Oh well!

Me, crying over my chair. I mean, screwing in the cushion.

The final product, what do you think??

One last photo, just for fun and payback to Anne:

Isn’t Anne a great photographer?

I love the new cover! I've never recovered a kitchen chair but I did as plastic covers when my kids were little to protect them.

Your chair looks great! But, I really like the wall clock in the background! Did you make it, or buy it? I think I'll pin it for future inspiration!
