Saturday Sister Spotlight 5: Babblings and More

I love coming across other sister blogs in the craft blogosphere. I always feel an instant connection with other sisters who are blogging about crafting together, and I want to share these fantastic blogs with others. So this time, I'm sharing . . .

Babblings and More

Last week, the lovely sisters behind Babblings and More were kind enough to feature us, and this week, we're spotlighting them here:
Bridget, Briana, Brooke & Brittany
Or, in age order:
Briana loves to cook, but doesn't like the cleaning part as much.  She goes through phases on what she likes to do.  Sometimes it's reading, or sewing, or jewelry making, or card making, and the list goes on.  She loves photography and loves learning how to edit pictures.
Brittany is very talented at canning.  People come from miles around to learn from her.  She also makes beautiful quilts. And she has a box of homemade cards to send to friends and family. She NEVER forgets a birthday and will gather her whole family around the phone to sing to you!
Bridget has a Candy Shop called Do T Do, where she makes hard candy and suckers out of Essential Oils. It keeps her busy like a part time job and the best thing about it is that it makes her house smelling yummy. Other than candy making she likes to do leather work and fiddle around with her sisters.
Brooke likes to sew, cook, bake and try anything new- but Brooke's favorite thing to do is play the fiddle on the weekends at the Big Texan Steak Ranch.
And they're all very talented at crafts! Just check out some of their awesome posts:

Brooke's Crop-it-yourself jean jacket

Briana's Monster Pillows

Brittany's (and Briana's) Fondant Ghost cupcakes

Bridget's Repurposed rake jewelry holder
And no Saturday Sister Spotlight is complete without a . . .

Saturday Sister Challenge!

Babblings and More has accepted a Saturday Sister Challenge around the theme of POPSICLE!

We'll update this post as Babblings and More post their responses to the challenge, but you can see all their great crafts on their blogFacebook or Twitter!

UPDATE!

Briana created this adorable popsicle shirt!

So cute!!

Saturday Sister Spotlight 4: At the Picket Fence

Since it's September, we're doubling up on Saturday Sister Spotlights!

I just love finding other sister craft blogs, and I want to get to know these bloggers better, and share them with our readers. Today's spotlight is about Heather and Vanessa, the two sisters behind

Heather, a Kentucky transplant, and Vanessa, residing in the Pacific Northwest, live about as far away from one another as I live from Mom and Brooke (and Jasmine when she's not at school). They use their craft blog to connect across the country (just like us!) and with all of us, too.

Heather is a homeschooling mom (10-year veteran!) of two who loves writing, photography, blogging and most of all cooking.

Vanessa is a stay-at-home-but-not-at-home mom of two, and (like her sister) she is a committed DIYer with a talent for repurposing items, decorating, party planning and more.

Here are a couple recent examples of their fantastic crafts:

Vanessa made this clever center for school papers with some extra beadboard and cork above her kitchen sink:

Heather is remodeling her whole kitchen on a budget. The builder-grade oak cabinets filling the entire space were driving her nuts. (I SO FEEL YOUR PAIN. I have 51 oak cabinets and drawers in my kitchen, plus oak trim on the counters, and oak walls backing the breakfast bar. There's so much oak I don't even know where to begin—or how I can ever finish. </temper tantrum>) Her awesome improvements include this farmhouse sink:

At the Picket Fence is also home to a fantastic link party, Inspiration Friday!

Of course, no Saturday Sister Spotlight would be truly complete without a . . .

Saturday Sister Challenge! At the Picket Fence has graciously accepted our challenge, and the theme is . . .

HARVEST!

Stay tuned to At the Picket Fence, and here on Wayward Girls' Crafts, to see what direction Heather and Vanessa take this theme. I know I'm excited to see what they do!

UPDATE! Heather and Vanessa have answered the challenge! Vanessa created this corn husk wreath:

And Heather made these monogrammed pumpkins (in the same post as above):
Fantastic job, ladies!! Thanks so much for being up to the challenge!

Saturday Sister Spotlight 3: Sisters of the Wild West

I love coming across other sister blogs in the craft blogosphere. I always feel an instant connection with other sisters who are blogging about crafting together. And today's Saturday Sister Spotlight is one of the very first sister craft blogs I found (and continue to be impressed by):

Amy Gilman and Emily Lee are the Sisters of the Wild West.
Emily Lee and Amy Gilman

I think they say it best:
WE love to craft, sew, paint, redo, and add glitter to anything we can get our hands on.  We were in desperate need of a creative outlet for all of our projects.  We are very excited about this new venture in blogging and look forward to seeing where it leads us.  Amy takes care of the technical side, and we will both be adding the crafts!   Our lives are crazy busy... with 11 kids between us.  Please share the adventure with us!
It's not just their crafts that impress me so much: I'm struggling to get anything done with my three, and Emily (5 boys!) and Amy (4 girls & 2 boys) run a successful home business from their sewing, furniture redos, home decor items and more.

I have seen some amazing things on these sisters' blog over time, and it was really hard to narrow down my favorites, but I knew I had to use this one: a repurposed TV console that Emily topped with antique family photos and postcards (no one could ID the people in them). Gorgeous!

When I saw this beautiful American Boy quilt, I loved the pattern—but I was amazed that Amy made this in a single day!

These sisters also host an awesome link party on Sundays, Sister Sunday Link Party. (You know I love that!)

And as we love to do, we're topping off this spotlight with a . . .
Saturday Sister Spotlight Challenge!

We've challenged the Sisters of the Wild West to a crafting challenge, and their theme is . . .

SCHOOL!

Stay tuned to Sisters of the Wild West (or right here) to see where they take this fun theme!

UPDATE: The sisters have posted an awesome project!
A black and white polka dot school chair!
Some of their other school-inspired posts include a weathered pink version of the school chair, and a desk to go with them!

Thanks so much for rising to the challenge, Sisters of the Wild West!

Saturday Sister Spotlight 2: Six Sisters' Stuff!

How's that for alliteration?

I love coming across other sister blogs as I roam the crafty-blogosphere. I just get this feeling if all of us crafting sister blogs could unite, we could use our powers for both good and awesome!

Okay, not exactly. I feel such a kinship with crafting sister blogs, though, that I want to do something special to reach out to them.

This month for our second Saturday Sister Spotlight, we're highlighting:

The six (yes, six kids, all girls) sisters are, from youngest to oldest: Camille, Kristen, Elyse, Stephanie, Lauren, and Kendra. Of course, I'm pretty sure these lovely ladies are not in that order in this picture:
Aaand I forgot to ask who's who, and I don't even want to guess, since I know what it's like to be mixed up with your sisters All. The. Time. (Hello, people at church who thought they were clever by calling us "Sister Lastname"--we know it's because you don't know our first names!!)

About the six sisters, adapted from their about page:
Camille is the oldest. A SAHM of two, she's busily trying to decorate the family's first home on a budget.

Kristen is also a mom of two, and baby, she was born to run. (This must be how she gets away with the decadent dessert recipes from the blog!)

Elyse is a mom of one who loves decorating, baking and exercising. (Again with the desserts!)

Stephanie knows how to shop and has an amazing wardrobe to show for it!

Lauren plays tennis and according to her sisters, she always looks cute.

Kendra is the stylish one in the family! She's an accomplished soccer player. (All right, fine. You can all eat desserts.)

The youngest three sisters are busily working away at their schooling (one in college, two in high school), leaving them little time to craft, but the older three do their best to make up for it on the blog! They have so many delicious/beautiful/cute looking crafts and recipes that I had a really hard time narrowing this down. Be sure to check out:

(Other really tempting contenders included the Nutella Stuffed Custard French Toast, Samoa Brownies, Pom Pom Flower Bib Necklace Tutorial and Mini Snickers Caramel Cheesecakes. See what I mean?!)

You can show off your crafts alongside these amazing ladies' with their weekly link party, Strut Your Stuff Saturdays, too!

And this spotlight wouldn't be complete without a . . .

Saturday Sister Spotlight 1: Three Sisterz!

When we started this blog, I (naively) believed that a sister craft blog was pretty unique. (Okay, sisters+Mom is pretty unique, but still.) I'm happy to be wrong. I find new sister craft blogs all the time and, knowing the bond of sisters—and craftiness—I always feel a special kinship to these blogs. I tried to think of a way to connect with these other blogs, and with Jaime's help, we came up with Saturday Sister Spotlight right about the time we found our first spotlightee (or they found us).

And our first honoree is:

In case you didn't guess, Three Sisterz is the bloggy home of three crafting sisters: Courtenay, Flannery and Molly:
Molly, Courtenay & Flannery
Courtenay
The oldest (or wisest) sister.  We call her our "Creative Director."  Teacher by trade.  Mother of 3 beautiful girls.  Married to her college sweetheart.

Flannery
The middle sister.  Our IT Director and brilliant writer.   She's a nerdy librarian.  Mother to 3 spunky girls.  Met her hubby in a bar.

Molly
The baby.  The crafty sister & wannabe photographer.  Oncology nurse by day.  Mother to a baby boy & a troublesome boxer.  Met her husband on Match.com

I dug through their blog to find some of their best crafts and tutorials—so be sure to check out:
Courtenay's chicken chili:

Flannery's bib necklace from vintage jewelry:

and Molly's preppy baby step stool:

Clearly the sisters have some talents! So we decided to take this spotlight to the next level with . . .

A Saturday Sister Spotlight Challenge!

We challenged the Three Sisterz to create crafts around a theme of our choosing, and with summer upon us, that theme is . . . WATERMELON!

So stay tuned to Three Sisterz to where they take that theme!

UPDATES:
Flannery has posted her craft: a watermelon-inspired pillow!

Molly joins in the fun: watermelon-inspired creamsicles!

Courtenay finishes us off with a watermelon appliqué tee!

What awesome crafts, Three Sisterz! Thank you so much for taking the challenge—it's been a blast!
